Did this little mixed media canvas 5"x7" of boats. Rather nice in an impressionistic way.
New Forest Artist working in watercolour with pen as 'Travel Sketches' and paintings in oils or acrylics. I also do Children's book Illustrations and have written my own books.

Just messing with an idea in my head - been there for days so I have tried it in A6 format.
Like it so will develop it into a larger scale and wetter use of watercolour and maybe use water on some pen mark!

This little sketch was done in the heat of the afternoon in Hale Cemetery...
And then on my way home I did these sketches of wild flowers.

So we have just visited a beautiful place in Cornwall right by the sea, called The Port William Inn Trebarwith Strand, to celebrate our 35 'meets' anniversary!
Walking, eating and chilling with a bit of Travel Sketching ....
This is a group sitting in the breeze outside the pub while I sketched inside! They had a better view than we did!
Rather a rough quick sketch ....

Not long until our 'meets anniversary' which is as more important than our wedding anniversary!
Thirty-five years with my lovely boy - my bestest friend!
I have yet to do a card however this watercolour that I did awhile ago depicts our feelings for each other (most of the time!)

Cornwallll was lovely and some artwork achieved!
The view from our caravan.
Did a similar oil painting a few years ago but didn't like the harsh colours. Have achieved the softness of colour this time!
(Acrylic on board)
Added some of the family as I love painting people best! A nice memory!
(Acrylic on board)
In the pub
This is one of my 'travel sketches' quickly done and in situ!
Love doing them as they leave me with a book of "moments in time!"
On the beach
Another 'travel sketch' - my moleskin book is nearly finished!!!!
Used the watercolours first with pen over the top for definition!
Will try the other way around when my ink cartridge runs out and I can fill it with permanent ink!
Could I have achieved more artwork? Maybe but then I did loads of other things with my fabulous family! How special is that....

Working on my oils. Portraits with a bit of chiaroscuro using a minimal selection of colours. Am working on my next painting and may add burnt sienna.
192 entry!
Let's start afresh. A new year a new incentive!
I have a watercolour travel set that I carry in my handbag! It started when we went cycling in France last year and I needed to have a small sketch set so I designed my own and I love it!

About Me
- Artist diary by Sarah Orchard
- Art has always been an integral part of my life. At the age of 50 I was able to complete a long awaited foundation course and HNC/HND. From this experience I have developed my love of pastel and watercolour. Rubens has always inspired me with his fluidity of movement; Degas and Lautrec I admire with their rough marks and blends of colour, their freshness of approach. I feel I have been given a talent for a reason and gradually the purpose shall unfold... sarah.orchard54@hotmail.co.uk Note: Images are Copyright Sarah Orchard © 2009
