Gosh! six months has passed by in such a race. What have I achieved in that time with my painting?
I stumbled last July 2017 with my interest focusing even more into the watercolours and how they worked confusing me with my pen and watercolour - general style. So I have spent the last months ‘playing’ with different artists palettes - Jake Winkle; David Curtis; Jean Haines. All of these Artist’s style I love but it was only in the last month that I realised that I have to find my own love of colours and develop my own style .... I had a try at oils - but not fulfilled.
I am now on the artists road to recovery. Feel much more incontroll with my ability.
I am happy with my choice of sable da Vinci brush; I am enjoying my very expensive little brass box palette; love my Daniel Smith Watercolour paints and experimenting with various sheets of rough and hot press papers. I now am painting and developing my style - MY style!
Below are my ‘summer studies’
New Forest Artist working in watercolour with pen as 'Travel Sketches' and paintings in oils or acrylics. I also do Children's book Illustrations and have written my own books.

About Me
- Artist diary by Sarah Orchard
- Art has always been an integral part of my life. At the age of 50 I was able to complete a long awaited foundation course and HNC/HND. From this experience I have developed my love of pastel and watercolour. Rubens has always inspired me with his fluidity of movement; Degas and Lautrec I admire with their rough marks and blends of colour, their freshness of approach. I feel I have been given a talent for a reason and gradually the purpose shall unfold... sarah.orchard54@hotmail.co.uk Note: Images are Copyright Sarah Orchard © 2009
