208 entry....

And now we are speeding through 2016 frighteningly fast...

A birthday card for a very lovely lady! This is her riding the horse. Very proud!

A birthday card for my beautiful girlie!

This painting was achieved using a limited palette of cerulean blue, burnt sienna, burnt umber and titian white waterbased oils. I only wanted to achieve the feeling of the moment with the couple and so stopped at the detail.
Have I succeeded - yes I feel happy with the result.
Why do I like it..
I enjoy the gentle colours.  The connection between the couple is apparent and I can feel them talking with each other.
What could be developed...
Detail - as in the hands could be improved and maybe one more pigment added.. but which one, is what I shall think on - warm I think!

207 entry...

...and commissions for Christmas were good!
I do love this one - good movement!

This one was difficult as the colour was hard to obtain!

He was holding a stick in his mouth that I had to remove.

All were loved on receiving....

Every month on a Wednesday - at Hale Village Hall - is a coffee morning for anyone wanting a social chat. I go with next door(s) when I am free. it is a lovely way to meet the locals...

A visit to my girlies gave me an opportunity to do this little watercolour, from wild flowers growing on a roundabout...!

Someone had a special belated 60th birthday present to Florence.
Tick that off my Bucket list!
It was absolutely fabulous and with my boy!

We decided to have a patio built...roll on the spring to see the developments. This was my plan design  - two options!

A trip to London with my guys and my oldest friend!
SMASHING!

Just messing with an idea in my head - been there for days so I have tried it in A6 format.
Like it so will develop it into a larger scale and wetter use of watercolour and maybe use water on some pen mark!

202 entry

This little sketch was done in the heat of the afternoon in Hale Cemetery...

And then on my way home I did these sketches of wild flowers.

I love foxgloves as they remind me of Beatrix Potter.

And the beautiful dog rose is my second favourite..

So we have just visited a beautiful place in Cornwall right by the sea, called The Port William Inn Trebarwith Strand, to celebrate our 35 'meets' anniversary!
Walking, eating and chilling with a bit of Travel Sketching ....

This is a group sitting in the breeze outside the pub while I sketched inside! They had a better view than we did!

This is somebody sitting outside enjoying the view!

The paper by buckled sadly .... But the beautiful gorse smelt gorgeous!

Rather a rough quick sketch ....

Cornwallll was lovely and some artwork achieved!

The view from our caravan.
Did a similar oil painting a few years ago but didn't like the harsh colours. Have achieved the softness of colour this time!
(Acrylic on board)

Added some of the family as I love painting people best! A nice memory!
(Acrylic on board)

In the pub
This is one of my 'travel sketches' quickly done and in situ!
Love doing them as they leave me with a book of "moments in time!"

On the beach
Another 'travel sketch' - my moleskin book is nearly finished!!!!
Used the watercolours first with pen over the top for definition!
Will try the other way around when my ink cartridge runs out and I can fill it with permanent ink!

Could I have achieved more artwork? Maybe but then I did loads of other things with my fabulous family! How special is that....

Meva walk!

Fowey walk is always my favourite.

Then we go home!

A special time!

About Me

My photo
Art has always been an integral part of my life. At the age of 50 I was able to complete a long awaited foundation course and HNC/HND. From this experience I have developed my love of pastel and watercolour. Rubens has always inspired me with his fluidity of movement; Degas and Lautrec I admire with their rough marks and blends of colour, their freshness of approach. I feel I have been given a talent for a reason and gradually the purpose shall unfold... sarah.orchard54@hotmail.co.uk Note: Images are Copyright Sarah Orchard © 2009
